The developers provided the basics and that was it!
The message from answers to the Parish Plan questionnaire in 2015 was clear. The Urban Park is bland! The Urban park is not fit for purpose!
The FPRA and the FPC worked together on how to make the area of value to all.
Residents on Fairfield come from diverse occupations and experts in various subjects can always be found. We are lucky that one of the top Urban Planners has been a resident here for over 10 years, Silke Gruner, who has been a member of the FPRA for some years. She drew up the proposals, helped it all through a public consultation and oversaw the transformation in 2018.

Despite opposition, she also stood her ground to have wild-flower beds rather than the formal areas see all over Fairfield. Many said it wouldn’t work but today it is a blaze of colour and much admired.
The area is in three parts, the raised stage area, a market area with its French-style surface and grassed areas with shrubs and flowers for people to amble through, or sit and enjoy.
