The green is located on one of the routes around Fairfield, Bronte Avenue, and was originally only bounded by wooden posts and a grass verge. In order to stop the parking of cars on the grass verge, which became very muddy in the autumn and winter, a beech hedge was planted. Still only a couple of years old, this hedge can now be cut to encourage the hedge to fill out rather than grow tall. It was recently the focal point for the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. A local resident organised and invited all the local residents to get together and take part in the important event.
