Inclusive and sensory equipment is due to be added to the play areas on Fairfield Park thanks to a £25k grant from Central Bedfordshire Council and equal match-funding from Fairfield Park Residents Company and Fairfield Parish Council.
With the finance in place the proposals are now being worked on and a public consultation will be underway shortly.
Once complete it will be the fulfilment of an aspiration of FPRA committee member, Lee Abbott, who herself is the mother of a profoundly disabled child. A mum to three children, she had long watched two of her children play while she sat with Amber, wishing that all three could play together. As she investigated a way to make this happen, she became aware of the fact that there are many families in Fairfield with children who have complex needs and find the playparks inaccessible.
