The first Fairfield Food Market was held in the new market space of the Urban Park on Saturday 22 June. A great sunny day blessed those residents that came along and shopped at the food stalls.
The old tractor brought along by Lower Wilbury Farm was a big hit with children, with them being able to clamber all over it. Dean and Katie brought along their fresh locally produced meat and eggs, along with vegetables. Next time they are planning to bring along some of their award winning sheep for children to pet.
Fairfield’s Women Institute group kept everyone supplied with refreshments and the wonderfully moorish cakes that members had made.
The exceedingly tasty cheeses of Wobbly Bottom Farm sold out. Along with standard cheddar cheese there were speciality cheeses such as pesto flavoured, ginger and mustard, along with their amazing goats cheeses.
Gunns Bakery of Sandy also virtually sold out of their own breads and cakes.
The 1st Fairfield Park Scout Group naturally had the best tent, and raised the profile of an already successful youth organisation.
The Fairfield Park Residents Association are planning to hold another Food Market or Christmas Market later this year.
The Urban Park market space is available to all Fairfield Residents to use for community functions. If you would like to make use of this market space then please contact us at email: [email protected]
