Spring on Southern Shelter belt 2

Southern Shelter Belt

Perhaps the prettiest walk in Fairfield, and very different depending on the season. Fairfield is bounded on three sides by the tree shelter belts. These were originally planted in the 1800’s, and contain some very mature native species of trees. The shelter belt has a footpath and a bridal way, separated by a now very […]

Western Shelter belt fringe

Western Shelter Belt

A more natural woodland area bounding the western edge of Fairfield village. The woodland is denser and goes back to the Green Lagoon. The footpath has been left more natural here, although an asphalt pathway was added in an area that became boggy in the winters. It has several horse styles along the length of […]

Our Market area

When the Urban Park (North) was redesigned in 2018, an area was specifically set aside in the style of a french village market, with hardcore standing for arts and craft stalls or food vendors. There have been several such markets held here, including a Winter Fair in late November 2019. Plans were to hold such […]

Food vendors galore!

The market space was always intended to be used as a place that local food vendors could  supply their mouth watering temptations to the residents of Fairfield, but it was not until near the end of the COVID-19 lockdown that we were able to tempt several food vendors to set up in the market place. […]

Green Crescent in Charlotte Avenue

Once a bare sole less grassy mound, this crescent has been transformed into a picturesque family friendly area. The two large grass areas are bounded by a dark leaved beech hedge on the outside of a perimeter of young trees. Several flower and shrub beds have been planted in the central area and are making […]

Figure of Eight Pirate Park, Bronte Avenue

So called Figure of Eight as it mirrors a figure of 8 with a crescent of trees and a young children’s play area, or Pirates Park due to the pirate ship climbing frame within the play area. It is a simple space connecting the southern shelter belt to Bronte Avenue. Normally a peaceful quiet area.

Urban Park Central South Play Area

This forms only a part of the larger Urban Park, and it is surrounded by a mature beech hedge and contains large grassed areas where families have picnics and children play football or cricket. There are some randomly planted trees. A footpath bounded by an avenue of trees to walk along. There is a play […]

The Green in Bronte Avenue

The green is located on one of the routes around Fairfield, Bronte Avenue, and was originally only bounded by wooden posts and a grass verge. In order to stop the parking of cars on the grass verge, which became very muddy in the autumn and winter, a beech hedge was planted. Still only a couple […]
